Valery Kruchkovski was born in a small town in western Belarus in 1972. His interest in art dates back to his early childhood, when he began attending classes at a fine arts school for children.
Since 2013, he has frequently participated in workshops led by Alvaro Castagnet, where he has honed his watercolor technique.
Valery Kruchkovski is an internationally renowned watercolor artist and a member of IWS France (International Watercolor Society), specializing in cityscapes and scenes of everyday life.
Today, he paints watercolors on location across Europe—primarily in France—and takes part in numerous exhibitions worldwide.
His work is distinguished by a poetic approach to urban reality, capturing the atmosphere and authenticity of impressions rather than merely creating a faithful copy of the real world.
"I paint watercolors both in the studio and outdoors, though I prefer painting outdoors; being outside allows for greater self-expression in response to constantly changing weather conditions.
You don't get completely bogged down in technique; instead, you give yourself the freedom to experiment as the moment dictates.
When painting in the studio, you tend to get more caught up in idealizing the image because you have plenty of time; outdoors, however, the conditions dictate the pace, leading to greater spontaneity.
Brushstrokes need rhythm to create texture, convey volume, and capture the essence of the painting.
I strive to create rhythm and dynamism in my work so that the paintings never become dull."
