Fernand Thienpondt

Belgium

"To paint is to use the fantasy of your dreams."

Fernand Thienpondt He was born in Bruges, Belgium, where he studied interior architecture. During his professional career, he attended evening classes at the Academy of Fine Arts and the Cultural Centre in Bruges. However, it was in 1998—after participating in workshops led by master watercolorist John Yardley in Bruges and Alvaro Castagnet in Leuven—that his watercolor technique truly accelerated.

Convinced that a solid grasp of fundamentals—such as perspective, form, color mixing, and the use of shadow—is the foundation of any work of art, he founded the *Vlaamse Aquarel- en Tekenschool* (Flemish Watercolor and Drawing School). Dedicated to promoting the art of watercolor, he voluntarily shares the technical expertise he has acquired with his students.

Over the past decade, his work has been selected for exhibition more than 200 times and has won numerous national and international awards.

He has exhibited across Europe (with the exception of Switzerland), as well as in Russia, the USA, Mexico, South Korea, Indonesia, Japan, Vietnam, and Australia.
